We are a group of guitar players (both accomplished and aspiring) and non-players, and a very sociable bunch, who share an enthusiasm for jazz music, particularly as played on the guitar. Whatever your skill level you will meet people with whom you share an interest and who are eager to play music.
We aim to provide a friendly environment in which club members can learn and try out new skills without fear of embarrassment or criticism.
Socialising is an important part of a club evening, providing the opportunity for members to meet and discuss topics of mutual interest as well as to play music.
Come along to a club night or two to see if it's right for you. Check the diary to see when the regular club nights are as those will give you the best feel for what we are about.
Your first two visits are free, thereafter annual subs are £40.
Do come along, we would love to see you.
At a typical club night there will be a workshop session lasting about an hour, led by one of the club's more experienced players. Following that club members will take turns to play together in small groups, either unaccompanied or with a rhythm section.
The club organises a concert twice a year, one in the summer and one at Christmas and these give club members a chance to perform before a live, but friendly, supportive audience.
Once or twice a year we hold a guest night, at which a well known guitarist will come and play for us. Guest nights are always very entertaining and we have been lucky enough to have some of the country's best guitarists visit us.
